Piano, Piano

A group art show, produced by Lover LLC, at Index Greenpoint, January 2026

For the culmination of the 2025 Artistic Alchemy course at Index, Lover LLC produced a group art show featuring work created by 19 members of our cohort and inspired by principles of the course.

In Italian, the word piano carries many meanings: softly, slowly, a plan, an instrument, a floor. When said twice “piano, piano” is a directive told so that you move at a gentle pace with intentionality and a trust in the process.

We paired that concept with our cohort's audacity to create what's asking to be created and a middle finger to perfectionism for a show that was honest, interactive, and a ton of fun.

It was a party 🪩

This was not your typical gallery opening, this was a party! The art was interactive, the dance floor was full, cake was cut, and there was a line out the door for the fortune teller.

It gave back to the community 🦋

Benham Jones coordinated a donation of lightly-used coats and seasonal clothes, cycled directly back into the community via @astoriafoodpantry and @freestoreastoria.

Ella Fitch sold copies of her poetry books and gave 100% of proceeds to The National Immigrant Justice Center, a legal aid organization advocating for human rights and humane immigration policies.
